Our Catio Story: We didn't set out to be the premiere Catio builder in Bend, but a handful of wild kitties put us on that path and it's become a true passion project! When we lived in the valley a few years back, we started noticing stray cats everywhere in our neighborhood. Turns out they were all feral, and an elderly neighbor had been feeding them for years... and, as you may know, cats populate quickly! It had become a real problem (mostly for the poor cats, who we often saw looking sick and disheveled, and sadly, sometimes dead). We couldn't stand seeing their suffering and watching the problem continue to grow, so we convinced the neighbor to let us help. We trapped and fixed upwards of 50 cats over a couple years there, sometimes finding homes for the young kittens that we were able to socialize (the rest were released back to the property where the neighbor would continue to care for them). Of that huge colony, there were four cats in particular that took a liking to our property and we'd see them sleeping in our bushes every night. So, we committed to feed and care for these four, and when we moved to Bend a couple years ago we brought the Feral Four with us (trapping and transporting them here was a whole 'nother story! ;) ). We didn't want to let them free-roam in our new neighborhood as we feared they would get lost, and we didn't want them invading neighbors' yards or getting snatched up by a coyote. So our first catio was born! We built a fully enclosed sanctuary for them in our yard, complete with an attached shed with warm beds and cozy nooks. Not only were the cats impressed with their new digs, but many friends and neighbors were too. Word spread, and our catio business was born! We are thrilled to be able to give cats of Bend safe outdoor spaces, and we're so happy that so many wonderful clients want to do this for their kitties.
